
Films for Christ

Meeting every Saturday from April 10th to June 26th
from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall
The "FILMS FOR CHRIST" workshop is a unique, hands-on learning experience where teens and pre-teens learn the filmmaking process by creating Christian films of their own. From pre-production to post-production, teens will learn how a film is made.
Teens will learn the following:
- What Makes Up a Film
- Common Filmmaking and Video Terms
- Basic Video recording techniques
- Basic Audio recording techniques
- Lighting for digital filmmaking
- Basic Video editing
- Basic DVD authoring
- And MORE!
The workshop will be lead by Danny Terry, the Audio-Video Technician for Trinity Baptist Church. Danny is a professional freelance videographer and also works as a Video Streaming Technician for the Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach, VA. Danny is the Producer of the family-friendly documentaries, "Doumar's: 100 Years of Service" and "Civil War Days". For some samples of Danny's work, click here.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Due to the fast-paced nature of a film program, Students must sign up prior to the first day of the workshop, in order to be included in the program.
- Students must be 10-19 years of age, any students under the age of 18 must receive parental or guardian approval prior to signing up for the "FILMS FOR CHRIST" workshop.
- Church and community members over the age of 18 may volunteer to assist with projects throughout the duration of the workshop.
- Students are recommended to provide their own video camera and video tapes, memory cards, external hard drives, and USB flash/thumb drives for the workshop. If the students do not own a video camera, we will find one for them to share, but they will not be able to take it home.
- All video and audio recordings from the workshop are intended for educational purposes only. Any projects containing unauthorized copyrighted material will not be authorized for any distribution, duplication, or exhibition outside the confines of Trinity Baptist Church.
Each student is expected to have a copy of "Filmmaking for Teens: pulling off your shorts" 2nd edition by Troy Lanier and Clay Nichols. This book can be purchased from any major bookseller.
